Loup County Website Redesign
The Loup County webpage is a site where residents of Loup, Nebraska go to get basic information about voting, driver's license procedures, history of the county, and current events that are happening.
My job was to completely dissect the website and redesign it to provide a better experience and easier access to each of those pieces of information. The webpage that we were originally given to work with has now been updated and improved significantly and has even implemented some of my own design choices into the new site.

The Problem
Redesign the website for Loup County, Nebraska; the existing website is here: http://www.co.loup.ne.us/. The site must enable visitors to search for and find information about specific topics that county residents would typically need. Also need to ensure that busy citizens who visit the site can easily find specific information, and that the typography employed is both easy to read and aesthetically pleasing.
The Solution
The changes I felt were most important to implement into the new website was to improve the general layout itself (margins, proximity, etc.) but also include welcoming typography and photography. The goal was create something easy to navigate but clearly show all the needed information.

Persona Development
This specific project required a larger audience scope that could be geared toward a younger age group to use for things such as getting a driver's license or history research, but also for other ages with similar goals and needs. The ultimate goal of the site no matter who the user, is to present information in a pleasing way and provide easy access to it's resources.
Scenario
Tara needs to know where to go and
what to bring to take the driving test and get good info/resources to do a report for school about Loup county.

Tara (16) is getting ready to take her driving test and get her license! She’s excited to finally get to drive by herself, but isn’t sure what she needs to do to prepare or bring to take the test.
Not only is Tara looking for information about where she needs to go to take her test (both written and the driving portion) but she also has an assignment due this week all about the history of Loup County. Tara’s project must include at least 3 images that represent Loup and some background information about the county.
Scenario
Jen got married at 18 and hasn’t had to vote yet so she’s not sure what the process looks like or what she needs to do to vote.

Basic layouts after several rounds of sketching for mobile and desktop before converting to digital drafts.
Digital Wireframes, Drafts, and Revisions
I then converted my rough paper sketches into digital wireframes, ran them through several rounds of user testing, and added in color, typography, images, etc. after receiving feedback and critique. I've included just a few of the user testing reviews that I collected (however, I used several different people and many different rounds in the design process).

Final Design and Prototype
After multiple rounds of user testing with several different individuals, the final design that I created is shown below. Using Adobe XD, I also created a minimal prototype that allowed my users to get a basic feel of how the app functions and what it's capabilities are.
The link to the prototype can be found here

Sketches & Wireframing
Below, I created a workflow of what each different page needs to contain and the general process of how to get to each piece of information. I then created and refined hand-drawn wireframe sketches for both mobile and desktop layouts.

Jen (18) got married 3 months ago and knows the primary elections are happening this year. She needs to figure out how to re-register to vote due to her name change as well as send in an absentee ballot since she will be out of the country the same week the voting is happening.
